In July 2015, I spent one month on artistic residency in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. One of my favorite activities was field recording using hand-made contact microphones on thin metal wire fences. These long, slender fences serve as a protective barrier protected from the entrance of sheeps to the road. When the strong wind blows, wire fences recorded by contact microphones produce a lot of different sounds. The recording of this phenomenon remained untouched for several years until I had the opportunity to participate in the ACT IN_OUT residency in Egilsstaðir, city located 27 kilometers away from Seyðisfjörður. This experience inspired me to finish composition based on recordings of a fence wind harp.
